MISSION STATEMENT

Calcutta Rescue evolved from a street clinic for the poor in down town Calcutta. Jack Preger, a British doctor, wanted to provide a safety net of medical care, social support and basic education to the poorest of the poor. The ethos of the organisation still remains the same. Now Calcutta Rescue operates four urban clinics, two schools plus supporting over 200 students in formal schools, rural clinics, and active outreach programme including a Street medicine Clinic, a special HIV/AIDS Programme, a Handicrafts Project. CR is working with other development organisations and the National and State government health and education initiatives.
