Calcutta Rescue

Calcutta Rescue is a pioneering Indian-registered charity with around 150 staff working to assist the poorest of the poor in and around Kolkata.

Our management

It is run by a chief executive and a small management team who coordinate its diverse work.

Our Governing Council

Strategic direction is set by its board, called the Governing Council, whose members can draw on a wide range of expertise.

Our support groups

Support groups around the world raise money to help fund the charity and find volunteers to provide specialist support and training as required.

Dr Jack Preger

The charity was founded by Dr Jack Preger, MBE, who is the grandfather of street medicine globally, and whose efforts in Kolkata over 40 years helped over half a million people.
