medical projects
Government outpatient consultation is free in West Bengal but not all prescribed medicines are – some must be purchased by patients. Treating a sick dependent can be a major drain on family's resources – and, often, simply impossible to even consider. The problem is compounded if the patient sufferer is the family breadwinner.
Chronic non-communicable diseases we treat include diabetes, cancer, epilepsy, thalassemia, cardiovascular problems such as heart disease and congenital heart disorders. These conditions usually require long-term treatment, involving expensive surgery and courses of medication generally beyond the means of our patients.
Calcutta Rescue offers patients with these conditions comprehensive medical services including assessments by doctors and basic medicines. We also liaise with local hospitals and private clinics to obtain appropriate, quality treatment in-house for these sufferers as necessary.
