Calcutta Rescue is seeking funding for a new school bus.   A CR owned and managed school bus will be utilized primarily to transport school children and their adult escorts, but also for all sorts of activity related school trips - attending celebrations, cultural functions, invitations from the government/NGOs, etc.  On a lighter note, it can also be used for fun-related pupil excursions, picnics, etc. – an important part of every child’s life, particularly those with deprived home circumstances.

Calcutta Rescue currently hires a school van which collects from 12 different slum/pavement areas of North Calcutta and brings our students to our two schools.  Hired transport is also used for school outings and special events (visits to the zoo, museums, etc) and costs approximately Rs. 300,000 (€4550) per year.

The estimated cost of our own school bus is between Rs. 10,00,000 (€15,100) to 12,00,000 (€18,150).
