We have many applicants whose skills are exactly what the organisation needs, but the applicant in question is not able to finance a long stay volunteering in Kolkata.  As our Support Groups do all they can to ensure that as much of the money they raise goes direct to those truly in need, their provision of volunteer funding is often limited.  This can be the difference between a candidate coming to Kolkata or not.  Therefore, a sponsor can be the solution for both CR in Kolkata and the overseas volunteer.

Personal Sponsorship

If what you have read about volunteering sounds just the sort of thing you would love to do but your personal circumstances don’t allow, why not do the next best thing?  Sponsor someone to go to Kolkata in your place!  Your bonus will be twofold – a great service to CR and the volunteer; and knowing that the volunteer, like a pen pal, will keep you posted of their work, rest and play … with all the Indian flavours to transport you to Kolkata with them.

Corporate Sponsorship

In tough economic times, perhaps your company is considering redundancies.  Would they find it financially attractive to sponsor a sabbatical for you instead?  Maybe they have not considered such a scheme?  Maybe they would?  Why not broach the idea with your HR department?
