Some 14 districts in West Bengal suffer from dangerous levels of arsenic in the ground water, which is generally used for drinking and cooking, thus causing a public health problem. The Government of India launched a programme to filter the water to remove significant quantities of the arsenic to provide a safe drinking water supply. CR’s existing
Arsenic Mitigation Project at Bamongram and Moshimpur in Malda district, impoverished areas, has been operating successfully for the past four years.
